Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead field operations on commercial projects including groundup construction and tenant improvements for office, retail, and medical facilities. The Superintendent will be responsible for onsite supervision, schedule and quality control, subcontractor coordination, safety enforcement, and client communication to deliver projects on time, on budget, and to specification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily onsite construction activities across commercial projects (groundup, TI, office, retail, medical) and ensure work proceeds in a safe, efficient, and high quality manner.
  • Implement and enforce company and project safety programs; conduct daily safety briefings and coordinate with safety officers and inspectors to maintain OSHA and client compliance.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, field crews, suppliers, and equipment to meet schedule milestones; resolve trade coordination issues proactively.
  • Interpret contract documents, drawings, and specifications; verify work is performed per plans and industry standards; manage RFIs and submittals with project management.
  • Prepare, maintain, and submit daily reports, field logs, manpower reports, change order documentation, and schedule updates to project management and clients.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, track critical path activities, and collaborate with project managers to mitigate delays and accelerate work when required.
  • Perform quality control inspections, identify defects, coordinate corrective actions, and ensure final punchlist items are closed prior to turnover.
  • Coordinate permit inspections, thirdparty testing, and municipal reviews; ensure all required documentation is complete for inspections and closeout.
  • Manage material deliveries, onsite storage, and equipment utilization; communicate procurement needs to purchasing and project teams to avoid delays.
  • Lead preconstruction and coordination meetings on site; maintain positive client and design team relationships and represent the company professionally.
  • Mentor and supervise field staff, promote teamwork and productivity, and support training initiatives to improve site performance.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of commercial construction superintendent experience, with a track record of overseeing groundup and tenant improvement projects for office, retail, or medical facilities.
  • Proven ability to manage project schedules, budgets, and subcontractor performance to successful completion.
  • Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, materials, quality control, and building codes applicable to commercial projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and building systems.
  • Experience with safety programs and OSHA requirements; OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.
  • Proficiency with construction management software and tools (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, MS Project, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate diverse teams and maintain client relationships.
  • Problem solving orientation, attention to detail, and ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation; willingness to travel between sites as needed.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Construction Manager (CCM), OSHA Trainer, or LEED credentials are a plus.
