Our client is looking for a skilled Cable Technician to join their team on a contract with the potential for a permanent position. This role involves a variety of tasks, including installing and terminating low-voltage cables, setting up communication rooms, and assisting with the build-out of data centers and office spaces. The position is based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and requires extensive travel to surrounding states, with all travel expenses covered by the client.
Responsibilities:
• Install and terminate Cat5 and Cat6 cables with precision and efficiency.
• Handle fiber optic installations while distinguishing between fiber and copper technologies.
• Set up and maintain access control systems and video surveillance equipment.
• Perform high-ceiling cabling tasks, often requiring the use of ladders or lifts exceeding six feet.
• Travel frequently to various job sites, ensuring timely and quality project completions.
• Build and organize server racks, ensuring proper wiring and connections.
• Work in communication rooms, including punching down cables to switches and other network hardware.
• Contribute to the setup and maintenance of data centers and office networks during remodels or new builds.
• Follow safety protocols and industry standards during all installations and setups.
• At least 1 year of experience in low-voltage cabling and related tasks.
• Proficiency in Cat5/Cat6 cable installation and termination.
• Familiarity with fiber optic installation and an understanding of fiber versus copper technologies.
• Experience with access control systems and video surveillance setup.
• Ability to work comfortably at heights using ladders or lifts.
• Willingness to travel extensively for work, with expenses reimbursed.
• Strong understanding of communication room setups and network hardware connections.
• Commitment to adhering to safety guidelines and delivering high-quality work.
