Job DescriptionSr. Emulation Engineer (I–III) Salt Lake City, UT
Salary: Up to $125,000
We are seeking a Senior Emulation Engineer to join a team designing and validating complex automated material handling systems used in large-scale logistics and distribution environments.
In this role, you will lead the emulation and simulation of advanced automation systems, working closely with software, controls, and systems engineers to model and validate equipment performance before deployment. This position plays a key role in ensuring automation systems function efficiently by building detailed 3D emulation models and analyzing system performance across multiple technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the emulation and simulation of mid- to large-scale automated material handling systems
  • Develop 3D emulation models to validate system controls, software, and equipment performance
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to design end-to-end automation systems
  • Support projects integrating technologies such as:
    • Sortation conveyor systems
    • Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS)
    • Robotics and automation
    • Voice and light-directed picking systems
    • Warehouse control and execution software
  • Review work produced by other engineers and mentor junior team members
  • Analyze system data and perform model validation and performance analysis
  • Provide engineering support and troubleshooting for emulation models
  • Work with external vendors to develop simulation interfaces and models
  • Present findings and design insights to engineering teams and clients
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and system optimization
  • Support multiple project assignments in a fast-paced engineering environment
  • Travel up to 10%

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field
  • 7+ years of experience in the material handling or automation industry
  • 5+ years of experience in simulation or emulation modeling
  • 3+ years of software development experience, ideally with object-oriented programming
  • Advanced understanding of material handling equipment, automation systems, and controls
  • Experience with simulation/emulation software such as:
    • Demo3D / Emulate3D
    • AutoMod
    • or similar platforms
  • Experience with JavaScript or similar scripting languages
  • Proficiency with SQL, Microsoft Office, and Visio
  • Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD
  • Understanding of UX concepts and interface specifications
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
