HVAC Technician (1099 Contractor)

Location: Salt Lake City, UT & Surrounding Areas

Pay Range: $25.00 – $50.00 / hour (Depending on Experience)

Job Type: Independent Contractor (1099)

Schedule: Flexible Shift Options — Choose 5x8s or 4x10s

Project Scope: Commercial

Length of contract: Approximately 1-2.5 months (dependent on speed of completion of current projects)

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to assist with commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning projects throughout the Greater Salt Lake City area.

This position is an independent 1099 contract role offering competitive hourly rates and flexible scheduling. For the right technician who delivers quality craftsmanship and reliable performance, this project carries a strong potential for future 1099 contract opportunities across future commercial builds and service contracts in Utah and Nevada.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, service, troubleshooting, and repair on commercial HVAC systems (RTUs, split systems, controls, ductwork, etc.).
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and mechanical specifications.
  • Maintain safety standards and ensure all completed work complies with local Utah building and mechanical codes.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: 2+ years of hands-on HVAC service or installation experience required.
  • Contractor Status: Must be setup to work as a 1099 Independent Contractor (W-9 required).
  • Tools & Transport: Own set of hand tools and reliable transportation.
  • Work Ethic: Strong troubleshooting skills and able to work independently or alongside job-site crews.
  • Physical Ability: Able to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work outdoors/on rooftops.
